So last night I got on it a couple times coming home from dinner (just a couple WOT from 25-60) and this morning when cranking it up I noticed the engine developed a rough idle (stays rough even when up to temp). Also, the typical whistle I hear that kicks in a few seconds after startup is not as pronounced as it was. I've done as much reading and searching of the topic as I can but am a bit stumped at this point (i'm also new to the diesel world so theres plenty to learn).
With my scangauge hooked up I checked out the ICV values (which appear to be good .25 before startup .84 at idle) ICP (22% at idle 48% at 3-4k rpms) and FICM Voltage (47.5v consistently).
The truck is a 2004 6.0L Excursion (255k miles, w/ headstuds, EGR delete, 4" exhaust, blue spring mod installed yesterday) with a rev-x in the oil and ford cetane booster at each fill-up. One of the issues that I'm currently battling though is that the last owner bought the truck with all mods already done, so he wasnt knowledgable as to what is done. There's definitely a tune on the truck as well (seen boost upwards of 38lb), but no tuner with the truck (something I also have to address).
First off, if theres a mod out there can you go ahead an delete my duplicate posts? I newb'd it up on that one.
Anyways, ya I think my first order of business is to get it flashed to stock and since the previous owner wasnt the one to tune it, he also didnt have the tuner. Therefore my best bet is to go to Ford and have the flash it back to stock and run diagnostics.... And ya after doing some research Im not to keen on it running upwards of 38lbs of boost (as read on the Scangauge2) even with studs.
Here's the video I made of the idle, what it doesnt show is how much it can be felt when driving (not a good feeling).

I would pull the EGR valve and see if it is stuck open. Another possibility is an injector may have been hit with low fuel pressure during the WOT run, possibly damaging an injector on the fuel side. So I would want my fuel pressure checked at wide open throttle to be sure it stays above 45PSI.
Do this first, pull the hex bolt on the fuel water separator and catch the fuel into a glass bottle. See if it has water in it. If it does change the filters. Then get a scan on it to see if you dumped an injector. Nothing for nothing I don't like the sound of it cranking. That's why I said get a IDS scan on it. It then might be time for a real compression test.
Thanks for the feedback and I'll tackle the fuel/water hex bolt in the morning. I also went ahead a grabbed an OBDII-USB, downloaded Forscan, and found out I'm throwing error codes for cylinder 7 misfire and the injector failing.....so I imagine that is where the bulk of my current issues are. I still need to tackle getting a proper tune on the truck (at the least I'll then know what tune is on the truck) and dial back the boost some.
P0307 is the misfire and means possible mechanical engine failure. Might want to get that compression test done ASAP. Get it checked before throwing injectors at it.
