I've belonged to this group for a little while now and it all started off with my '51 F1 "Lucille", she was a great truck but I was torn with the fact that I had this beautiful truck but no place to keep it. I set out to build a two car garage in the back of our property and when I ran out of money putting the garage together I ended up selling my Lucille to cover all of the expenses. This left me with a garage but no F1 to put into it. Shortly after I had my expenses worked out I found a local '51 F1 that was in great condition (body wise) but the drive line, wiring, pretty much anything mechanical was awful. So six months, a bunch of cash (from a Harley I sold), and countless hours I was back in business with "Ol' Red". Ol' Red was great (and I had a lot of sweat equity into her) but she wasn't Lucille so I went in an entirely different direction. Off 'Ol Red went and I bought a '31 Ford Coupe. I really regretted selling that truck as soon as it was gone but what was I going to do? There wasn't enough energy left in me or enough money to start again, Ol' Red was living way up in Canada. I kept in contact with the new owner and he told me how great she was running and how much he loved driving her. As luck would have it, I phoned him recently and he's decided to sell 'Ol Red back to me! I don't want to jinx it but so far our plans are working out perfect and were hoping to be reunited in May sometime. Here's a pic of her before I sold her in case anyone remembers her. I'm told she's still all intact and besides a few scratches here and there in the box everything is how she was when I sold her two years ago. I'll keep you posted.
Wally
ps. I sold the '31 coupe and we have a '56 Chevy that my wife likes so this will be my truck again.
Welcome back, Wallster!
I restored a '57 Chevy 2-door post sedan before doing the '51 F2. It's only a few miles away and if the guy ever wants to sell it I get first refusal. Even though I don't have room for it I would make every effort to get it back in my driveway cause he leaves it outside.
I know every inch of that car - and still have spare parts to it in my garage.

Hey Wally,
That's great news!!! Ol' Red is coming home! I'm not sure who I like
the most Lucille or Red... but I think I'd choose Red - just a really nice well done truck.

Ol' Red made it back home yesterday and after some very thorough cleaning and polishing, I fixed a few things that needed attention. Great to have her back home again. I have a few little odds and ends to take care of but she's no worse for the wear.
I'm glad you got it home where it belongs. Letting any car, or truck go, that you have put so much TLC into always comes with regret, so getting it back has to make you feel ecstatic . Congratulations Wally and welcome home to FTE.
