1999 Ford F250 4x4 Transmission Acting Weird
I have a 99 f250 with 320k I had the transmission rebuilt put about 20k on it, and about a month ago when I put the truck in reverse it felt as if it was hitting a small bump. And when put in neutral it would still move forward....Took it back to the transmission builder and he found that it had broke a ring and was in both forward and reverse. So he replaced forward clutches and reverse clutches...
When I picked up the truck about a two weeks ago I had driven about a mile from his shop and stopped to let the wife grab drinks while I had the truck in drive with my foot on the break it seemed like the truck had a standard transmission and popped the clutch and it died (even thou it is automatic) I restarted the truck and put it back into d and drove about a mile or so more and it seemed like the truck was slipping and lacked drastic power. So I took it back to the builder and he test drove it and said it seems like all is good cause it is doing what it should (I rode with him and it seemed to be ok) So I took the truck home (which is about 45min away) and the next morning went out started the truck up and let it idle for 5min give or take and it sounded like the truck was knocking...I crawled underneath it and it was coming from the torque converter area Shut the truck off and started it again same noise (we used to race stock cars and sometime the torque converter bolts would back out and that is the sound it made) so I put the truck into reverse backed up 40 feet and put it in drive drove 200-300feet and it felt like it shifted into 4th the motor bogged down I put my foot on the break and it keep trying to go forward and stalled again like it had no torque converter. Started the truck up drove it to work 1 mile away parked it That afternoon started it to go home and all was well. Next morning same routine this time it did not knock but it did stall after reverse and in drive 200-300ft down the drive way. Took it back to the builder he had it a week found nothing wrong with it and said it was good to go. Then this morning after having it back since Friday same story again......Any ideas would be great

When it is fighting you when you're foot is on the brake it is because the torque converter is trying to lock. That can happen from low pressure inside the trans.
Low pressure can be caused by low trans fluid, a bad pump, or high internal leakage. It is also possible that you have an intermittent short to ground in the torque converter clutch solenoid wiring.
The knocking noise points to the other possible reason - a failed torque converter.
Any of the above are possible causes.
