More power steering problems

1979 f150 4x4 6.6 liter engine I just hadon't my steering gear box rebuilt thru Auto Zone. Once we put it on, the new power steering pump magically didn't work. What would cause a good working, brand new, power steering pump go bad? It was only unhooked for 3vweeks.

Probably just has air in the system. Been awhile, but if I remember correctly the way to purge air is to jack up front end and work the steering back and forth lock to lock with engine off.

Someone on here went through this recently, and cracked open a line or something to ease the bleeding process, and finally got it working properly.

We just turned the wheels back and forth but didn't jack up front end. Drove it down the road and back. After getting back home removed cap off reservoir and let it idles. There was no movement in fluid at all. It was at top of neck.

Replaced power steering pump

Just wanted to update, I replaced power steering pump that was under warranty. It worked perfectly today. Thanks for replies.
