Did you purge the air out of the lines after you put everything together? Put the front end on jackstands. Engine running, in park or out of gear, parking brake on. turn steering lock to lock continuously for a few minutes. You may have to add PS fluid.

It can take A LONG time to purge the air out of the system.

I agree with Bullet. I actually had to drive mine 2-4 times before I worked all to fhe air out of mine. At one point the pressure built up enough that it actually blew the dipstick out of the pump because Corrosion had built up to seal the top of the old dip stick. Works great now.

You just have to stay with it. I rebuilt my p/s pump, drained all the lines, installed a new cooler, etc... filled the system, had pressure, turned it lock-2-lock, a couple dozen times, topped it off and thought I was good to go.

Drove it the next day, 15 miles one way, drove 13 miles back and the p/s went manual. Drove home, turned it lock-2-lock a few times, topped it off and haven't looked back.
