I'm about to pull the trigger on a long distance purchase of a beautiful 1996 F250HD single cab then my buddy says..."Are you going to fit in that single cab"?
So I'm 6'7" and about 350 lbs. I had a 1996 Extended cab and a 1993 Bronco with buckets and I fit just fine. The 1996 F250 I'm looking at also has buckets.
My buddy swears that the seat tracks and floor is different in the single cab and that I'm not going to fit in the single cab. I thought the floors and tracks allowed for the same range of movement meaning if I fit in the Bronco and/or the ext cab truck I should fit in this single cab.
Before I spend a lot of money, fly across the country and try to drive this single cab truck 1200 miles home does anybody know for sure if the leg room and seating position is the same or smaller in the single cab?
Please Help,
Bob

Damn, I wonder if the bucket seats with the higher backs will make that even worse?
If I get it home I wonder if I can make any modifications or install different seats to make it better. I love this truck I'm trying to buy but I need to be able to get comfortable. The last single cab I owned was a 1979 and it was not a problem. Maybe I'm grasping at straws cause I want it so bad and I need to just pass on the purchase.
I went from a 1988 super cab with buckets to a 1994 single cab with a bench and the single cab has considerably less room according to my calibrated legs... Mostly you just don't have the space to adjust the seat back, and no real room to recline. The benches also seem to have a bit higher seating position in general, but buckets should be better on that front.
All that said, you will probably fit just fine, you just won't have much room to adjust things when you need to on a long drive and so forth. For me, condition is king, but buying sight unseen is a roll of the dice.
Im 6"4" and 260 lbs. I have driven both Super and regular cabs. I'm comfortable in both to a point. I would rather have my Super Cab for long trips because I have more room for adjustment. Either should be fine for a daily driver. The regular cab is limited somewhat though
I am 5' 8" and I have a standard cab F150. I really like the truck but I barely have enough room to be comfortable. If I were you, I'd get an extended cab.
Depends if you're long in the leg or in the body. Pull into any parking lot in America though, and tell the owner of a regular cab truck your story. I'd let ya sit in mine. I'm also 6'3 and 280. I would drive the truck 5 hours to go hunting upstate for a week. And no problem on the 10 minute drive to work in the snow. But the Hyundai gets over 30 to a gallon of gas with a heavy foot, and it's a lot more creature comforty.
Crap...You guys are making me re-consider. Sounds like it could be a miserable 1200 mile drive home and that's assuming the truck is as nice as the pics appear and the owner says it is.

My inseam is 38" and I plan on hitting the streets first thing in the morning to try and find a similar truck to sit in. I'm suppose to give the owner my final answer at 2pm tomorrow and book my flight also.
I have two Regular cab trucks. I'm only 5' 9" and I have both seats adjusted all the way back and it's perfect for me, so I can see how it may be a little tight for you on a long trip.
Also another thing to consider is making sure it has a tilt adjustable steering wheel. Our 93 does not, but my 97 does. And the wheel sits a lot lower in the 93.
I'm, 6'1" 240lbs and pretty long legged. My truck is a single cab and a manual transmission. With the bench seat back all the way and the steering wheel tilted all the way up, it's perfectly fine. I might even be able to drop the wheel one notch and not hit it with my knee when I go for the clutch.
At 6'7" I am thinking no way - even if it is an automatic.
I went and tracked down 3 trucks this morning and tried to sit in them. The standard XL with the cheap bench was the best, 2nd was a bucket seat truck but the interior was really shot in it. The worst was the more upscale XLT bench.
The truck I'm looking at has the buckets. Living in Ohio it's nearly impossible to find a really nice rust free truck of this vintage. This truck is in Denver Co and the body/paint is in near perfect condition. It's one owner, well maintained with full documentation. I guess if I don't like it I can sell it and likely make my money back once it' in Ohio but that's not my intent.
I am currently getting prices on having it transported.
Thanks again,
Bob
