Yeah, so, I HATE not having my cruise control working. It's the only thing on my truck that does not work.
So far I did the brake sensor switch on the master cylinder with the upgraded pigtail, checked fuses, checked VSS for working (speedometer), there is no ABS light, and no codes. Anyone have any ideas where to point me? Everything I find online only talks about the brake switch recall and how that's the issue 99 percent of the time, so I guess I am in the 1 percent where it's all vague and maddening. LOL! Thanks for you've help if anyone has an idea.
Hey Byron the steering wheel electronics are not like our old obs trucks these have a fiber optic cable controlling the horn and the cruise control, after many years of use they just tear and contact to the the horn and controls don't work . Has happened twice one on an e99 Gasser and a 00 diesel. Just a thought.

Thanks Adam. I should have asked you earlier! LOL...brain fart! My horn works, but intermittently. Do I need to get a new cable or the clock spring or the buttons? How did you fix it?
There are threads on the forum that show how to address the wire bundle from the steering wheel. It's not fiber-optic.
What about your parking brake switch, have you checked that?
If you click the OBDII tools link in my signature, there should be a way to see the status of every switch tied to the PCM and GEM.
Hi Rich, thanks for the input. I have followed your other threads when I have lurked over here from the OBS side. LOL
I am not sure about the parking brake switch. The light does illuminate when it's engaged. Would that tell me anything? I'll look at the link and report back. I am guessing the steering wheel cover just pops off?
my 2 cents .... it's prob the Clock Spring behind the airbag on the steering wheel. Intermittent horn is a symptom of a CS as well as SRS codes and non-working cruise ctrl. Just to be sure check the cruise control buttons to make sure they are 100%
SOLVED!!!!! Thanks to Jim (Hussler), I had it fixed in 5 minutes. I am stoked!!! Not figure out how to change my thread title.
So Jim texted me and tells me to check the clutch position safety switch. He said if it starts without the clutch pushed in, that switch is probably bad and that could affect your cruise control. So I look under there in the switch is in three pieces and yes, the truck starts without the clutch pushed. So I just happen to have a new clutch rod with a new bushing and a new switch on hand from a previous clutch install and I had those put on in five minutes and it worked!!
This forum is great for this stuff. Thanks so much for the help guys!
...FYI my automatic trucks cruise works fine with a intermittent parking brake sensor
Mine doesn't. One time I was cruising and the truck just dropped out - giving the ol' heart a jump. I looked down and the parking brake light was on. It turns out the park brake pedal was just on the verge of tripping the switch, and a bump in the road finished the job.
