I did the custom build partly because I wanted the 6.2 with the 4.30 rear.
I read that if you want more payload out of the truck you might want to avoid the camper package, but I guess that depends on if you plan on putting one on.
I agree with the 4.30, but not sure about more payload comment. Thought the camper package added a leaf spring, thus adding to payload?
I am considering ordering the Platinum trim instead of the Lariat. I know I do not want the Moonroof. I like your build. I will have to consider the price difference between the 2 trims.
Brian, I ordered a Lariat ultimate and then 2 weeks later reordered a Platinum. In my instance the difference was only $900 bucks (if I didn't add the sunroof to the Platinum) and for that you got the massaging seats, LED lights, power running boards, BLIS, nicer wheels and a few other upgrades. Well worth it IMO.
I would also suggest the higher gears for towing the big 5'er.
Didn't realize how expensive the Platinum was until I saw this sticker. Granted most everything is "standard" in the Platinum, a fairly low additional option Platinum gas version stickers for more than a well equipped diesel Lariat.
Remember mine has almost every option except the Sunroof. A similarly equipped Lariat without the 20 inch wheels and the massaging seats was about $65,000.
I see now, you have to add the Ultimate package to get the moon roof, lane departure, adaptive cruise, etc
The lane departure wasn't something I would have ordered it was just in the Ultimate package. Adaptive cruise doesn't interest me so it wasn't included in my list for either vehicle. The BLIS was standard on the Platinum and IMO will be more useful than the lane departure so it was actually a plus in my mind. Does the Lariat have the rain sensing wipers and tailgate lift assist?
