"Payload Downgrade - Level II" on the window sticker/FordEtis build out.
I have the 11,400 Upgrade and 350 KR with lots of goodies and this I have not seen before.
Thanx for the help in advance. Truck should be here in 2 1/2 weeks...driving me bonkers rereading the window sticker every day!
Option 68L. Did you request an 11,400 truck? If so then you get the payload downgrade package which lowers the sticker from 11,400. Usually it would be used on a DRW truck, wouldn't make much difference on a SRW.
Yes, I ordered the 11,400 pkg but, window sticker doesn't show a cost, just a note/line?
Hmmm, wonder if dealer messed up? Also, window sticker shows the locking rear w/3.55 ratio but not on Etis and the vault too shows but, not on Etis...
Guess I just have to wait for the truck to come in and see if it is correct.
There is no charge for a payload downgrade package, it's just a sticker for legal purposes. Allows for more trailer without need for DOT or CDL for commercial purposes. I'd trust the window sticker far more than ETIS. As for the dealer messing up, they might have thought the 11,400 package increases the GVWR, or they might have just done what you told them to do, with you thinking the 11,400 GVWR did something it doesn't. Either is believable to me, I don't think a single retail sales guy at our dealership would know anything about the package and we have some pretty decent truck guys. All it does is set the GVWR at 11,400. No you can't change the sticker at the dealer after the fact.
Thanx Frantz.
Thats putting my mind more at ease that I'm getting the truck I ordered.
I'm having issues getting my window sticker posted here to show.
I've tried attaching it, seems the only way I can link it here.

Ford came out with this for registration purposes only. In CA, if you are 11,500 or greater you need to have DOT stickers on your truck. They even have a downgrade to 10k on the F350 as well for reg purposes.
Interesting. Is there anything physically different with the vehicle or is it just lowering the rating on the sticker. There is no need for me to have DOT stickers on my truck when all I haul is a 5th wheel.

A F350 is a F350. Zero difference between weight options. It is only for reg purposes BUT if you downgrade, that is the legal rating of the vehicle even with the truck being the same thing.
Question for the OP, how come you ordered a GVWR downgrade package? Does your state penalize for the full 11.5k standard GVWR?
It seems he was under the impression it was an upgrade package. The question is did he request that or did the salesperson suggest it? In this case it's just a 100# difference, but it could be a major setback if it had been a DRW truck (14000 GVWR downgraded would lose 3600#!!!)
That's what I was thinking happened too Doug. I've seen that come up here before. Folks think the various GVWR's you can select are upgrades or just choices in general as opposed to the downgrades they really are. Ford's build and price could use a little clarification in this regard. As you pointed out, you'd hope that a salesperson would not have made the mistake for the buyer. Also, if it was the customer's mistake and I was in that position as salesman, I'd make it a point to make sure the customer knew what he was asking for too...
And I know this has come up before with sales person knowledge in general, but I would put money against any retail sales person on our floor knowing what those packages are for and we have several good truck guys. Actually, the downgrade packages aren't even referenced in the Ford training for the SD for retail sales. I think most folks come across it on the build and price, or else just going down a price list and saying "do you want this?"
When the downgrade is ordered presumably it affects the payload (yellow/black) sticker and perhaps other paperwork. Does it also affect the GAWR (blue/white sticker) numbers?
