Camera button swap

Thought I would post this mod that got started in another thread. If you don't read the other thread you wouldn't know.
Thanks to DingusKhan who came up with the idea.
It is just swapping the camera button with the traction control/exhaust brake button
I, like Dingus, like the camera button closer to me rather then reaching across the screen to press it.

The left hole needs a slight xacto knife cutting in the tab slots..very easy to do. The right side needs nothing and the button will pop right in.
Edit** I forget now which one needs the slight modification, I did it from the back side so I am confused with the left/right now.

Since you have done this I figure no better person to ask. Mine looks like this.

I would to swap the two buttons circled. So the question is are the two buttons in the same home detachable? In other words can I just swap the right hand buttons in those holes? Whoever thought I would use the traction control button more than the camera button must have been drunk.

The double buttons are a pair of buttons in one. You move both
There is nothing there I use more then the camera button.
Now that I think about it.. I might put the exhaust brake/tc in the middle.
The exhaust brake is the only other one I use.
I will never use the hill decent. What a waste of technology that is.

Well that sucks. I wanted the exhaust brake and camera on the left.

Put the exhaust brake in the middle... then it will be right beside the camera. You'll soon have your memory motor skills hit them right there close to each other

And I'm not 100% sure, but pretty sure you could flip the camera button set up side down and have the camera even closer. Those buttons would still look correct upside down.

Your truck would veer to the left into on coming traffic when you hit the button if you flip them. Are you sure you wish to risk it?

I assume the camera button is added when you have the front or 360 cams?

I guess when you add anything more then stock tailgate camera. I just have tailgate and CHMSL

I don't have the lane assist so I always track straight.

This may be the way to go. How tough is it to get that panel off to do this mod?

Easy...
Grip the top tray with your fingers and get it to lift a little... then get a little pry bar (don't scratch anything, put tape on it) and pop the left side..then the other.
Don't take the tray and speaker right off, just lift it enough to get a 1/4" drive ratchet with a 7mm socket in there and take out the two screws on the top of the bezel.
Then the bezel pops off...start at the top.
Disconnect all the connectors in the back. It's easier to get the heating control (lower connectors) off first before the top button connectors.
All the dials and buttons are attached to the bezel.
Once you take out the buttons you'll see what black plastic needs to be trimmed to put the buttons in different order.
I never pulled the centre button so I'm assuming it is just another variation of alignment tabs that need to be trimmed.
