I'm finally getting around to getting my truck back on the road. Decided against taking it to Ford and just drove a different vehicle until I've had the time to take care of this. Adrenaline HPOP is ordered and I've decided to replace the oil cooler while I'm in there as well.
Is there any brand or type of oil cooler that is preferred? I looked at the remote oil cooler setups, but I'm not sure I want to go that route. I looked at the PPE cooler on Thoroughbred's website, and it looks good but I wanted to check here first before pulling the trigger. If I stick with a standard oil cooler, is that sufficient? I know they suck from a design standpoint. Main thing is, I don't want to have to go back in and replace this thing again in a year or two. Any suggestions and feedback are more than welcome.
The list of things I'll be doing once the parts come in are:
1. Replace HPOP, along with o-rings and seals on the supply tubes from the pump to the oil rails.
2. Oil cooler upgrade/replacement
3. EGR delete kit install.
4. Drain coolant system, flush, and coolant filter install.
Anything else I should do while it's torn down?
Already rebuilt the turbo last year, supply line is upgraded. After this is done, the entire high pressure oil system will have all new o-rings, including the nipple cup o-ring for the injectors because there are 8 new injectors in there.
I would be very cautious about any oil cooler that had larger passages to prevent clogging, PPE claims also an extra row of passages. I can see NO way to increase the number of and size of the passages and maintain the OEM size to allow it to fit. To increase passage size they have to eliminate a row and that will not allow as much cooling as stock. Also larger passages allow faster flow which decreases heat transfer to the coolant side which says to me that it will NOT cool as well as OEM.
Ford cooler only. Look on eBay and the power stroke forums for the best deals.

And no, they really don't suck from a design standpoint. It's other things that contribute to their demise.
For things like oil coolers, injectors and filters, it's OEM all the way.
