New 2 years ago according to the PO...and I have no idea what he did exactly. So, I will just replace it and do it correctly that way I know it's done right and everything.

Brake systems are tough to isolate in terms of "replace this part over here, but leave this 40 year old part over here alone." This is one instance where "might as well" is a good thing. It doesn't make any sense to replace the master cylinder, and not say, the rubber brake hoses. Wheel cylinders aren't expensive either.
Bite the bullet and replace everything but the pedal, (but inspect that too, carefully) if you do the work yourself it's reasonable, just a few hundred bucks.
