New donor truck

Found a 1993 f250 single cab 4x4 5 speed. It's got the non turbo in it. It's only got 167k on it but has a blowed up motor. In case u don't know I'm doing a auto to manual swap. I'm assuming the 7.3 turbo and idi has the same bolt pattern. Will the front drive shaft fit my truck? My truck is a extended cab. I'm thinking it will, just that the rear shaft will be to short. Any idea on where to get a rear drive shaft?

Why not use your current driveshaft?

I figured my 2 piece rear drive shaft won't be the right length. I'm terrified about the electrical aspect of this swap. I don't handle vehicle electronic problems well.

My truck is a 97 f250 4x4 7.3 auto extended cab 8ft bed. The truck I have is a 93 f250 4x4 manual 8ft bed it has the 7.3 idi. It's whole, only missing the radio. Will I have to swap out the pcm?

You can't swap the PCM, it's an IDI. You can use your auto pcm with the standard.

didn't think about that. Will my cruise still work with the auto pcm? Since I'll have the manual wiring harness I may have my pcm flashed to a manual. If I used the manual wiring harness and had my pcm re flashed would it prevent any wiring issues? Please bear with me guys, I'm going to have alot of questions on this subject over the next few weeks while I'm doing this swap. You guys are a wealth of knowledge.

I did the same swap on my truck, except mine is a 97 crew cab long bed.
Donor was a 93 regular cab long bed.
The manual trans is 5 3/8 inches shorter than the e4od auto. The 93 and 97 drive shafts mount to the transfer cases differently also.
I used the 93 trans. And the 97 transfer case. I took my 97 driveshafts to a shop and had the rear shaft lengthened 5 3/8 inches and the front one shortened 5 3/8 inches.
I also put a new single mass flywheel and clutch kit on while I was at it.

I've been running an auto pcm in my truck with the 5 speed for nearly 4 years with no issue. Some guys get a romp at start up but that's the worst of it.

You will need to splice into 2 wires to get your cruise to work. Rebilld has a wiring diagram in his transmission swap thread that I used when I did mine. If you're unable to find it I can hunt it down for you tonight.

Don't be intimidated by the wiring for this. I have very little knowledge of vehicle wiring and it was a breeze.

Here is the wiring diagram I used. I suggest reading the entire thread. Some great info in there.

Redman84 has a pretty good swap thread as well.
