New to the forum and looking for some advice on where to go next with my F-250.
The truck is a 1994 with a 460 and C-6 transmission (started another thread on that one)
The truck was my grandfathers and he left it to me with around 30,000 miles. I have since added about 12,000. The truck is in amazing shape and I plan on keeping it forever as a fun driver.
Since getting the truck just over a year ago, I have upgraded the ignition with a MSD street fire coil, MSD wires, MSD distributor cap and rotor, and plugs. I upgraded the thermostat to a 180 degree 7.3 thermostat. I added an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. I added a rear hitch receiver (grandpa only pulled a gooseneck). I went up in tire size to a 285/75/16 all terrain with mickey thompson classic III wheels. I have done a 3" catback exhaust with a 4". I have added a bearcat CB radio and glow shift gauges in the interior with a engine temp, tranny temp, and fuel pressure gauge.
So whats next? Anything anyone has done that is essential for the 460?

This is from countless years of being on FTE and bad mistakes I've learned from..And I own 4xF150's
That is a really nice truck btw!
First thing I would do...
Swap all the MSD ignition junk, and go back to New or even the old "Known" working Motorcraft ignition components that you pulled out. Then I would drive it daily without hesitation....That's just the first thing I would do.
2nd. Yank out the 180°F off brand T-stat. Install an OEM 192°F Motorcraft t-stat. That SD system just starts to go closed loop between 173-177°F, so your just on the fine line of the system going into Open and Closed loop for optimal operation.
3rd. What was the reason behind the adjustable fuel regulator? Unless your pushing the limits of the stock PCM, with 24# injectors, running blower, or have the timing to far advanced, there's really no need to fiddle with the FPR that came stock.
I hope you don't think I'm being rude. Every Proud Ford truck owner here wants to help and they want to help anyone who listens.
I agree with timbersteel, you sort of did things opposite of "chronological" order. Don't necessarily ditch the msd stuff, most of the bad reputation with them (they have a higher failure rate than oem) comes from the fact that when someone buys one and it fails, they come on forums and vendor websites (like summit, jegs, xyz part stores, etc) and provide negative feedback or negative reviews. Most of the people who use the msd stuff in fact do not have problems, but rarely do those who have no problems take the time to share their experience after years of problem free service, they certainly aren't going out of their way to do so....that said, if you have known working components, keep them in the truck as spares. I do the same thing and I run oem parts.
What's next? Long tubes and a high flow cat. If you're keeping the truck forever, like you've indicated, it'll make your driving experience much more pleasurable and get rid of some very poorly designed parts.
After that (if you still wish to go further), cam, ported/milled heads, and enjoy.
And that's an awesome catch you have there in that truck, make sure you give it fresh fluids throughout.
X2 on the fresh fluids. Everyone wants to do mods but nobody ever wants to change the front differential fluid. Hey, I get it. It's a pain in the *** and messy, and it's not flashy but fresh fluids, re-packing wheel bearings, lubing up the front end etc will go a long way to keeping that beautiful truck on the road.
Thanks all for the advice! Fluids are a no brainer. As soon as I got it I went through and did most the fluids. Took care of the diffs, oil, transmission, flushed radiator. Did pads/rotors and repacked the front bearing.
The reason I went with with an adjustable fuel pressure regulator was the original seal had gone bad, the aftermarket adjustable regulator had a NPT port that made the pressure guage an easy hookup. Which im glad I installed. Fuel pressure has been dropping when on the highway with high RPMs on warmer days. I suspect a fuel pump (pressure donsent drop as much/soon when tank is full and can cool the pump) so that's one of my next projects.

Agreed, though front diff fluid change doesnt have to be hard. Little fluid pump and it's fairly easy.
I'd change all fluids and filters. Coolant, PS pump, diffs, t case, trans, engine oil, fuel filter, air filter, brake fluid. Blinker fluid too ;-)
That is a beautiful looking truck you have there, very jealous. Unfortunately here in Australia we didn't get the full range of trucks that you guys in the states did.
