Hello everyone. I have a question that I think I know the awnser to but would like some sager advice. So I have a 390 that Im building up for a daily driver. (1973 f250) im running a mostly stock lower end. Stock rods and crank but flat top forged pistons. Planned on 9.5 to 1 compression raito. Upper end is again mostly stock cast iron. Ill have 68 mid riser heads with 428 cj valves installed. With a cast iron 4b intake. ( really debating on buying a nice eldabrock intake But i have the drip trays with the oil returns down the intake and was told they would not work with aftermarket) new luniti cam ( can post specs if it helps) and im planing on one of them fancy msd boxes. All topped off with a 770 street avenger holley. Real question to all of this can my stock rods handle a bit of nitrious. Id proably only run a 75 or 100 shot. But im not sure what all nos will really do to a motor in the long run. Thanks everyone in advance
If your engine is sound, and you proportion the correct amount of nitrous with gas, you should be fine with a 100hp shot of nitrous. Where people get into trouble is when the fuel delivery is not matched to the nitrous delivery.
Low fuel pressure, clogged fuel solenoid etc. Remember to retard your timing 4 degrees for a 100 hp shot.
