Shift Linkage?

Hey fellas, I've been battling with my shift linkage for a little while and I'm looking for suggestions. The truck is a '79 F150 with a 351 and a C6 with column shift.

I've had the truck for a few months and the linkage was sloppy when I got it, but it "worked" mostly. About a week ago the truck suddenly had no first or reverse gears. Playing with the adjustment at the trans proved the transmission was okay, and adjusting it got the truck up and going again.

Right now the issue I'm having (other than all of the play in the linkage) is that there's no positive engagement from the column shifter between gear selections, although I have it adjusted where I can all gears except 1st.

Are there particular "wear parts" that I should look to replace? Is this a common problem? The linkage is factory and has about four different rods and four joints to make it work.

Thanks for the help!
