Smog pump removal
I am looking to remove the smog pump on my truck, I have no Catyliac converter, and there is no emissions testing in my state, it is doing me no good to be on the truck, I have not really looked at it much or what it entails to remove it, I have read that you can just bypass the pump, can you achieve this by just removing the pulley or does the pump have to come off, and what are the benefits of adding an EGR block plate between the intake and the valve? My truck is a 92 F-150 5.0 4x4 with a 3/4 ton E40D and transfer case. I know there are plenty of threads on this but each one has different answers and everybody else's opinions

I still have emission testing so I replaced mine because it had a bad bearing. As I understand, the pump only runs for about a minute after start up, but I'm not positive. You will need to remove it which is easy and buy a smog/air pump delete pulley. Readily available. I also think if you don't want the pulley you will need a smaller belt. I'm sure someone that has done this can give you first hand info. Any particular reason you want to remove it and block the EGR (which I did on mine). Sandy
