I've been debating whether to post this or not because I don't want to come off as flaming any reputable vendors. I do however feel like I need to correct some information that I was told and that I repeated, which has turned out to be misleading. I went with a BullyDog GT Diesel tuner because they are now using SCT software and was lead to believe that the transmission was tuned also. Maybe I should have explored further when some custom tune writers did not write tunes for the BD, but some did and some claimed to be tuning the transmission also. They even went as far as adjusting my tuning for shiftpoints because I had excessive 3-5 shift flare with one of the tunes, but not others. Long story short, it took many emails and phone calls to get the tune writers to talk to higher ups at BD to verify that the GT DOES NOT tune the transmission. So I now am using the BD as a pyro monitor only (didn't wan't to have to install a new pyro probe, etc) and tuning through an SCTx4. The difference is night and day and confirms that the transmission wasn't being tuned previously. After the revelations both BD and the tune writer were very responsive and flexible in working through a solution so I didn't have to reinvest in my entire tuner setup and tunes. Hope it helps somebody trying to make a decision and that nobody made the wrong decision based on what I posted in the past. Suffice to say that a company that works very close to BD and SCT was under the same impression as I, and they still contend that it did flash the TCM at one time.
