I hate to hear of this happening, and I appreciate the heads up, but if you do not hand a guy CASH when you are standing in front of the ACTUAL truck you just paid for....that is what can happen these days.
Scammers, scumbags, and Craigslist rip off guys and those guys in Nigeria that want your ride to be picked up by a "shipper" and they will pay "EXTRA" in the cashiers check. lol
I would think that Ebay has a way to handle this? Montana to Idaho and or Washington State not that far of a trip IMO. If I was paying that much for a truck I would go look at it in person and then make it a face to face CASH only deal.
Hope it works out for you. X2 on see if the cops in his area can do anything about it.
I've wondered in other threads about those who leave electrical harnesses unconnected when they put a vehicle back together. Sounds like this guy might be one of them. Two examples with non-working turn signals and tails? He might even be a cutter of harnesses and cables!
At least at the worst used car lot in the world, they have the cajones to actually face their customers in person. He's hiding his vehicles and himself through the internet. Probably better at manipulating Ebay, than DC electronics.
Anyone can get a car to look good on the internet and drive onto a hauler...
Videos are a must when considering an online vehicle purchase, but they can be manipulated too.

Ain't that the truth. A year ago I started searching for a truck outside of Alaska. He had a few posted on ebay during that time. They certainly looked nice in photos. Decided to research his user name a little since he seemed to be the selling business. Glad I did took thst extra step. Found quite a bit of negative feedback on the Internet. And I also found it odd that he didn't have a regular Web page with info about himself, business or trucks. None of it sat very well with me.
