Just checking the interest in a Truckfest get together 6 May 2017. 14th is Mother's Day (No Go) and the following weekend is Super Nationals.(again No Go).
Pere Marquette State Park (Not yet confirmed) https://www.dnr.illinois.gov/Parks/P...Marquette.aspx
I realize this is sorta short notice but it's TRUCKFEST and I'd hate to see it slowly fade away.
Let me know what ya think.
I'm invisioning folks driving in Friday and leaving Sunday afternoon but if most are like me (retired) we could make it longer. Providing Pere Marquette can handle us.
Just 10 minutes before opening this post, I committed to something else on May 6. Otherwise, I would be interested; provided, of course, that my truck would be ready. My wife just said unequivocally that my truck won't be ready, but she could be wrong. But then she usually isn't.
It's about a six hour drive for me, probably more like an eight hour in the F-2' and if I don't take a wrong turn . I'll seriously think about it. I just took a little turn in my life, getting my business back up and running, so I'll have to see how that works out. Also, my wife has a job that she works every weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It's kind of hard for her to take off. It'd be lonely drive in the F-2. I'll think about it.
I have an elementary school track meet the morning of the 5th and a high school track meet in the afternoon.
I think I would be able to come up on Saturday and stay through Sunday. There are a lot of variables in my availability schedule though.
Not to worry! If I can't get it together this year I'll be ready for 2018.

I've got my eye on 2018 as well.
By then the F3 should be on the road and will have enough vacation time to make the long journey from Maine including wrong turns.
This sort of get-together is what I have in mind as I build this truck.
4:10 gears instead of the 4:86's, power steering, 12v instead of 6,a slightly bigger carb than stock and a brand new radiator and water pump.
Truckfest is my goal.
Tom
Tom,
Not to wave you off but you maybe thinking Truckstock which would be much closer than Truckfest. But if you wanna come "come on down" err "Go West young man".
May 2017 Seems to be unworkable. And I'd like to keep truckfest in the spring of the year if possible.
I'd like you all to take a look at the proposed venue and let me know if this is someplace you'd want to go to. If so I'll start working towards 2018.

It would have been too close timing wise for me as the supernats are 2 weeks later. Why not just have something at the supernats this year. I'll be there stop by and say hello everyone

Kevin,
I've been meaning to ask, Do you still race Y Blocks any more? There's something at Byron, Illinois and another in Ohio (both are mainly cars). Would be fun to see these ole motors screaming down the track. I get Y Block magazine and I'm pretty sure that's where I saw them.
