F350 DRW Airbags?

I upgraded from my '14 6.2 F250 CCSB to a 2011 F350 DRW 6.7 . Pin weight max is 2700lbs assuming empty garage. I haven't pulled with it yet, but I'm wondering if I should even bother with airbags on this truck. I had the firestone remote system with airlift 5000 ultimate bags on my F-250 and wasn't impressed. It seemed like I constantly had to run the bags at 80-100PSI to stop the truck from porpoising.

With the longer wheelbase and significantly heavier spring package, are you guys running bags for pinweights less than 3000lbs? I'd like to invest that money in a trailair pinbox for my trailer instead.

I have the Firestone airbags on my dually but my pin weight is a lot higher than yours. The bags should fit the dually with the exception of the left upper mount and those you can order through SDTRUCKSPRINGS.com for around $60 IIRC as it's been a few years. So I would keep the bags for possible installation later on if needed. As for the TrailAir, it made a huge difference in the bouncing and harshness of my rig. I would get the standard TrailAir and not the TrailAir Flex as it can cause a bit of chucking with some rigs. Some people do haul my same pin weight without bags, but I like to keep mine level.

Thanks. I still have the F-250, my wife wanted it more than she wanted her car so we traded that in. I'll put some time into removing the airbags from the F-250 and keeping them on the shelf. Also good deal on the sdtrucksprings upper bracket. I'll be sure to keep that in mind as I make a decision there. I think my plan is to go ahead and do some hauling then make the decision. I have to replace the tires on the 5th wheel this spring before our first trip so that will be a short shakedown with the new truck.

I saw Airlift released a 7500 XL bag this year. Could have used that on the F-250.

The pin weight on my setup is 2,720#. There is 9" of clearance from the top of tire to bottom lip of fender before hooking up. There is 7.5" Clarence after hooking so only 1.5 of drop if that helps.

This is with no airbags.

It's prolly too late but it has been my experience with air bags that the porpoising is from the factory shocks not being able to dampen the truck springs and air shocks when combined.

when I crank up my ranchos from 5 to 7-9 all ov the porpoising goes away with fver and the bags set at 30 lbs.

It looks like it's sits pretty good not much more drop than mine. Do you know the pin weight on yours if you had it in other posts I don't remember?

I have bags on my 13 DRW also. My old gooseneck trailer had a pin around 2300 empty, but loaded figure 2500. The truck was sitting nose up and rode like hell. Airbags solved the ride issues and corrected the ride height. I do not have the snow plow prep or FX4 packages. Still have stock shocks. With the old trailer I also got a driveline vibration if I stood on it with no bags. They resolved that also putting the driveline angle back where it belonged. New trailer is only a claimed pin weight of about 1600 and has almost no storage forward of the axles. Only takes about 25-30 pounds to smooth the ride a bit and bring the height back up.

I have airlift 5000 ultimate bags and the wireless air control system. Happy with both so far. I am looking into replacing the airlift lower bad mounts with Firestone parts after seeing a thread where the bumpstop tab broke off.....................

I have snow plow, camper and Fx4. Wonder if that is why I don't need anything. I just barely touch the upper overloads with my 5er.

Same with mine snow, camper and FX4 package. Maybe with those it helps with carrying the load. I think it rides pretty nice unloaded also.

Here's my '16 F350 Tow Boss, about 2500 lbs. pin, no bags. It drops 1 1/2" hooked up. I thought about bags, had then .... and needed them on my old F250 pulling this rig but once hooked up, pretty level and rides nice.

The stability and ease of driving the dually makes for a pleasure drive even in some adverse road/ weather conditions.

Fine looking setup there.

defekticon if you haven't pulled your trailer yet you will be in for pleasant surprise between the dually for stability, carrying of the load and the diesel for torque. It should be a night and day difference from the F250.

My 2016 F-350 dually no airbags, drops about 1.5 inch, great stability with the dually. Had bags on my 3/4 ton, did not like them. My pin weight is 2300 lbs with our BC
