Hey everyone i have a 5.0 setup from a Lincoln in my 77 f100. I'm trying to figure out this rough idle misfire I have. I've been through two distributors thinking it was the pip. I've re times checked the tps sensor reset that to.95 and reset the idle screw. When I unplug the iac it will stumble and die I've cleaned it as well. It has a new ignition coil and I have ford racing plugs that will be in after work today. The only code I'm throwing is for the egr. Because I have it disconnected. It has a new fuel pump and filter brand lines and brand new tank. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
Keep in mind too, that the 5.0s are susceptible to the balancer ring slipping, which can lead to erroneous timing readings...
And check up under the upper intake manifold and make sure you've capped off every vacuum port. There are several under there.
Were you able to check the vacuum connections underneath the upper intake manifold? Somebody also posted an alternative to spraying carb cleaner to test for vacuum leaks using cigar smoke.
i was cleaning my iac with brake cleaner, tried carb cleaner lots more came out as well as re-checking the tps but this time i did it with alligator clips and when the 3 wires moved enough it would fluctuate my readings so i have it zipped tied over now and its working like a charm going to go ahead and order a new motorcraft brand tps and change it when it gets in. ill report back if the symptoms come back
