I ordered my truck with the 3.55 electronic locking axle.
Looking over my truck on ETIS it says "Less Elect Locking Differential" which sounds like it doesn't have the locking axle. But yet the window sticker shows the option.
Am I just reading it wrong?
Bonus Question: I just now realized the dealer did not put the Upfitter Switches option on the truck. Which from what I heard, you are not capable of adding outside of the factory. Do you think this should be a deal breaker? I have never owned a truck with these switches but living in Alaska now I feel like a light bar would be a good option to add.
I would wait for the window sticker to confirm. As said above ETIS is wrong, trust it for the build date and that is about it. Also if you really wanted the upfitter switches have the dealer reorder the truck tomorrow. Not that aftermarket switches can't be installed easy, ford just makes it convenient.
My understanding is the Upfitter Switches are factory installed only. Due to the wiring and wire terminations it would be quite challenging to do this and keep the price reasonable.
I suggest you go for an sPOD ("ess-pod") unit. I have one in my Jeep and it's a great, made in the USA (right here in Valencia, CA). Really well engineered and the good news is you can integrate it into your overhead console nicely - check this out:
Here's a view of the sPOD panel installed in the overhead on the BDS Ascension show truck - very clean (and it's worth noting you can easily customize the switches with custom light colors and great graphics!):
You'll still be getting it. I checked the VINs on ETIS of my 2012, 2015, 2016, and 2016...all of them were equipped with the electric rear locker, and ETIS said "less rear electric locker" but they all came with it. I'm sure there's a reason why it says that but means something different. The trucks that say "less front fenders" just mean they aren't 450's or 550's with the wide track axle that need the added fender flares.
Upfitter switches: It used to be so easy. $125 after the sale, about an hour, and they were in. I did it to one of my trucks not equipped. Now, much harder. Still possible, but the cost and time is massively more. You'd have to buy the entire overhead console (not cheap) and run the harness, and possibly add circuits in the fuse box.
MagicMtn's solution looks nice enough, but you lose the sunglasses bin.
See if your dealer can do some work to add it in, if they can't then they can make it right for you after the fact in their shop, for the price you would have ordered it for. It's all in how you approach it, they can keep your order and order you. A new one with all the correct options.
