Open the box and take everything out. Turn the adjustment **** entirely counter clockwise. Look for the indention on the **** facing left, and turn that clockwise to the 1:00 position. 99 out of 100 times that is the perfect sensitivity setting for the shock sensor.
Unbolt the DLC (OBDII connector) under the dash, you'll need a 7mm socket. Plug in the harness and run a zip tie around it to keep secure. Bolt the replacement DLC connection back under the dash where the original was located.
Plug in the module, and route around to zip tie to the main wiring harness coming through the firewall. Zip tie up any remaining wiring harness.
Get in your truck and close the door. Insert the key and turn from off to run (do not start) 8 times, with the 8th time ending in the run position. The door locks will cycle twice, then wait 30 seconds for the door locks to cycle a 3rd time. Remove the key.
At that point you're done. If you want to test, roll down the driver's window, close the doors, and lock with the remote key. Count 30 seconds. Hit the steering wheel with your fist with medium contact. The alarm should trigger and the horn and lights going crazy.
It functions just like any alarm. The nice thing is that there's zero wire splicing, so nothing to screw up. The sensitivity can be adjusted. Also you can add other hardware to the security module to enhance or add remote start. You can add on the long range remote start FOBs (with antenna add-on), and/or remote start from your cell phone via the Remote Access module.
Thanks for the info Pocket! I couldn't find any thread about this add on. Seems like a good value for the money compared to other after market systems.

There are plenty of threads about this but it is usually under the remote start headings since the Premier Plus Security (VSS) is required interface for the long distance remote start and/or cell phone remote start.

My search didn't come up specific enough. With this thread it should come up on top of someone else is looking just for Perimeter Plus Security.
Listen to Larry & Pocket. Provided me with plenty of great advice when installing mine.
Also, shop around. You can almost always find that same part number for much less than the Ford accessories site. Here's a couple examples: http://parts.autonationfordwhitebear...rd/dl3z19a361a http://www.ebay.com/itm/2011-2014-Fo...FXvfkj&vxp=mtr
Pretty sure that even though it says 11-14 it'll work on your truck. That part number is working on my 2016.
I got mine through Banner Ford (second link). They were even able to jump online to test some functions in my complete setup.
Yes, it can be added to your truck with no problems. I have it on my 2015 Lariat and long distance remote start in addition to the standard remote start. I did have cell phone remote start but took it off. I am also using one of the old fobs from the 90's for remote/keyless entry.

Thanks! You mean one of these FOBs? I remember they didn't take to water too well.
Hey Just Strokin, not to hijack this thread but do you know if anyone makes a remote start for older Superdutys? '05-'07
there are plenty of remote starts out there even for the diesel models. The dis advantage of them is you have splice all the wires. There no plug and play remote starts systems
Look at a viper, code alarm, and others. You might need to search for a security alarm with remote start to find one. I have had add-on remote start systems for 1986 F-150 and 1996 F350. I have had good luck with the DesignTech and Crimestopper brands of remote start. Advance Auto carries the DesignTech remote start in their stores.
Ford make one with vehicle security, but is on the pricey side, approx $300.00 for 2007-2009.

Your old Subaru fobs are working fantastic on my truck. But I did have to cover those logos with
Even though Ford's Remote Access app does not appear to have been updated since December 2013, it still works better than the Viper SmartStart app on my previous truck.
I did have to go to my dealer and have them activate the remote start function in the BCM because I had nothing from the factory and installed all modules/antennas myself. If you or someone that you know has the FORScan regular version (not lite) you may be able to do it through that.
They charged me $40, but the truck had 5,000 miles on it so they did a free oil change and tire rotation while I was there.
