Muffler system question

2000 Ex V10 - Took the Ex in to Muffler shop due to loud muffler and found the Flange assy. in front of the cat apart with no hardware to hold it together. The tech suggested cutting of the flanges and welding in a pipe.

Checking with Autozone they supply a gasket (walker 31638) but they have no info on the hardware that holds it together.

Can anyone suggest here what to do either have the tech weld in a pipe or get whatever hardware needed and fit the gasket with the correct hardware.

Does anyone know what the hardware looks like, are they just hi-tens nuts and bolts?

Many thanks for any suggestions,

If the flanges are in good shape yet just get the gasket and bolts and put it together.

If the flanges are in rough shape cut them out and weld in a pipe.

I don't think that the hardware is anything special, just some pressed in bolts/studs and nuts on the other side. I would just get the new gasket and replace with decent nuts and bolts with a lock washer.
Mine is an '05 so it may be a little different than your '00, but here are what mine looked like.
My cat side flange just before I cut it off.

The factory joint, you can see the flat round heads of the pressed in bolt/ studs.

Grade 8 bolts are good for these type flanges.

Gasket from AZ and the tech bolted the flanges. There was just an issue that he thought the bolts would be difficult to get out and burning and replacing with a pipe would be easier. I wasn't comfortable with that hence the question. Many thanks, sounds like a Cadillac now : -)

Glad to hear you got it all sorted out. But if the hardware wasn't there how did the tech think it would be difficult to get the bolts out? .

Yes I thought the same thing to myself, I didn't see it but
I think he thought there were bolts/studs broken off and
he had to drill them out which, as you know can be a real
beach ; -) For these hardened muffler guys cutting and
welding a pipe in is a breeze.
