Ford is currently showing May 5th for F150 balance out. SD is still TBD. Order pickup for 18s is May 15th.
As a personal tip, I find ordering a few weeks before balance out to be a good way to get what you want and maximize rebates. Yes you're paying the high end of the price levels (as they go up through the year) but typically the rebates outpace this price point. You don't want to wait until the last day because Ford can change this date at any time. I've seen us a few days away and then poof, we already passed it when I went to put in an order that afternoon.
Its the date that Ford balances out their remaining orders. So all orders before balance out should be accepted, all orders taken after balance out fill in the production schedules and then cut off. So if the line is set up to make 100 5.0 trucks a week and at balance out they have orders for 72, then 28 more orders for that will be taken. It's a little more complex than that of course, but thats the best way I know to explain it. I treat it like a cut off date.
Yes but it wouldn't automatically carry over and Ford would not be held to the price levels of the '17. Effectively it'd have to be resubmitted as a new order.
Job Last for F150 is scheduled for DTP 7/02/17 and the '18 Job 1 is on the 17th. For KCAP it's Aug 13th for Job last and Aug 14th for Job 1!!!! That's impressive for both plants, but KCAP at one day?!? Wow!
So Dearborn is the production line MY changeover procedure tester. While KC gets the line flooded with 100s of supervisors/engineers and shot callers on a one day crunch?
I don't know which is better....or worse....
I'm wondering if maybe DTP will have the diesel and KCAP will keep just the gas offerings. Or maybe it has to do with the 10 speed transmission switch?

Probably the most educated guess....
My shoot from the hip technique of guessing, then spouting off bs rarely serves me well
The dates I have are still the same, but was talking with someone who seemed pretty knowledgeable about it from Ford that said '18 production would start in July. That does line up with "normal" more so. If I get better info I'll share.
