Question Shock replacement headaches!

Aloha y'all!

I've read the entry in the tech folder and scoured YouTube for info but I'm still having fits trying to replace the front shocks on my 04 RWD coil spring 6.0L EX. What should be an easy job is made near impossible because there is too much stuff in the engine bay to access the top of the shock. Not only is there a bunch of AC stuff in the way on the passenger side, but what I'm guessing is sound deadening material is overlapping the the top nut making it tough to get a wrench or socket on the nut. I've tried to cut the material but my fingers won't bend backwards.

Please tell me I'm overlooking something simple. What should be a 1-2 hour job has me pulling my hair out. Also, does anyone know the torque specs for the mounting nuts?

Thanks!

I've never done a 2wd Ex shock but in general it is not uncommon on most vehicles that you will need to remove 1 or 2 other brackets or accessories to get to the part you are trying to work on. Yes there is a torque spec and can look it up for you if you can't find it via a quick google search .

Might have access through the wheel well. It's been a while since I changed mine, but not recalling it being an issue to get at. I'll look closer at mine later when I get out to the garage.

I looked at mine and yes, through the wheel well is the way to go. I don't think you even need to open the hood to change them, on my V10 at least.
