Help! Truck keeps dying!
I just bought a 1969 f250 360, auto C6, and I'm thinking I'm cursed!
Truck ran great for about the two weeks I've owned it, then she left me on the side of the road. Long story short I have replaced the carburetor (stock 2bbl), new fuel pump, fuel sending lines from tank selector, new line from fuel pump to carb, two new fuel filters, and looks like a new rubber line running to the fuel pump as well. So I just got the carb on last night and took it for a spin today. Ran great until about 15min of driving and she acted like she was starved for fuel. Popped the hood and the filter was bone dry ( just like last week). Let it sit for about 5 min and finally the filter filled up and I got home. So my question is what would be causing there to be no fuel to the filter before the carb ( or possibly to the pump?) Could the tank selector valve be worn (although I took it off and seems to check out fine) or could there be an intermittent blockage? The tank behind the seat is clean as a whistle inside (I checked) but not sure on the rear tank under bed. This is my only vehicle and I'm in college so I can't afford much downtime, and this really has me scratching my head. I'm new to this truck so any input would be greatly appreciated!

I would see if the secondary tank is clean and try that one. That way you will have an answer, if it works on the secondary tank its a fuel pickup problem. If the problem still happens it is a pump or fuel line issue.
Also check all the connections in the fuel lines. If you have a loose connection prior to the pump that can cause this problem.
The tank selector valve lines get hard and crack and can leak gas an suck air like the other rubber gas lines in the engine bay.

please i have similar problem but in different form. I bought my car Ford Escape 2008 V6 Limited version last year at 107k miles, but presently with 120k miles range. Recently i was declining from hill when i sudenly lose power on my accelerator and "check engine sign" showed in yellow on my dashboard with oil an battery indicator in Red. I put of the ignition and restart, to drive it home, but the check engine sign remain on the dashboard. After diagnostic scan code P0191 Fuell rail pressure sensor circuit/performance was shown and it was changes.
After one week of using, it came up while was on hiighway at 120km. I was able to manage it back to the mechanic. and a routin service was carried on it. He advice i drive it for a complete cycle to see it will happen again.
3days after, its occur again (i.e the engine lose power, that accelerator was ineffective and check engine sign came up) while my wife was driving BUT this time when she put it off and re-start the engine, lo there was no check engine sign again. But has anyone experience such issues on his SUV either tribute or mazda of same model.
what did you change apart from Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor?
thanks for feedback.

This is the 1967-72 ford trucks.
We don't have those stinking cpu running our engines.

P0191 - Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance
Description: The comprehensive component monitor (CCM) checks the fuel rail pressure (FRP) sensor for
an acceptable fuel pressure. The test fails when the difference between the fuel rail pressure
requested by the PCM and the fuel rail pressure delivered exceeds 138 kPa (20 psi) for
greater than 8 seconds.
Possible Causes: • High fuel pressure
• Low fuel pressure
• Damaged FRP sensor
• Excessive resistance in the circuit
• Vacuum leaks
• Low or no fuel
Diagnostic Aids:
Application Key On Engine Off Key On Engine Running Continuous Memory
All GO to Pinpoint Test DD.
1. check for any vacuum leaks.
2. check the Fuel Rail Pressure Temperature sensor and it's wire connector for any damage.
3.test from here on require tech to have scanner hooked up.
I suggest you call your local Ford Dealer's Service department and ask how much they charge for a "Diag". Usually around $80 to $100. I suggest finding out what's wrong with it, fix it, and be done with it.
