We had a booth at PRI2017. A Ford engineer stopped at our booth. Confirmed 7.3 gas push rod for 20/20. and a 6.9l diesel in the not to far distant future. over 1000 ft lb of torque.

A ENGINEER stopped by and gave me the inside scoop and its the REAL DEAL...I think Strokin hit the nail on the head.
Not sure how many trade show I attened in my 25 years in the IT business, but I prob hit at least a half dozen a year or more, every year and there is no shortage of someone stopping by and of course they are an engineer for ________ and their company is gonna rock the world with their next major release/upgrade/new model etc etc.
As I look at Ford thru my eyes I see a company that on the gas side of the house is reducing cu in and increasing HP/Torque (if you got the latest Ford Racing news on the engine they are developing for racing...smaller, more HP more torque. As for the 6.7 D its at 935 T now and they only need 66 lbs to break the 1000 mark. That can be had with nothing but minor tweaks to software, cam profile, Turbo and intake/exhaust mods. Not sure I see the market going beyond 1000 if it goes that far, at that point in time the rest of the drivetrain will need to be beefed up to handle it.
I can also say in speaking with another engineer at Ford when I worked for ford, that they are coming out with a 7.3 liter push rod gas engine to replace the 6.8 v10. They are also coming out with a 1000 lbs ft diesel with steel pistons to handle the temps.
i work at Kentucky truck plant, and know first hand they are adding a 3rd motor mount for a new 7.3 l gas engine.
After this post, “former” Kentucky truck plant worker. Yikes, be careful man (if true). I mean, this one thing isn’t that sensitive really, but broadcasting yourself to the world as an employee with a willingness to share internal info will put you on their radar for sure. Don’t y’all sign NDAs and stuff?
Unless you’re the Kentucky plant guy who hasn’t been attaching the moonroof drains, then disregard what I said and feel free to share all the secrets.
