I have two 1970 F-100, one 4x2 that I have had since I turned 16 and I just purchased a 4x4. The body on the 4x4 is a clapped out Flintstone special so my plan is the take the body from my 4x2 and swap it onto the 4x4. Who has done a cab and bed swap before? Any tips, tricks, things to watch for, etc.?
It seems fairly straightforward to me but I have never attempted to replace anything more than a front clip on this truck (and I am still pissed off at the a-hole who backed into it and drove away).
Pretty straight forward deal. If its a 1967 to 1972 the only change is the transmission tunnel, just keep the tunnel cover from the 4x4 and re-use it. You can use an engine crane to do the lifting but a gantry style crane is better. like this Search results for: 'gantry'
You may be able to rent one if that is easier.
