Gauges vs Idiot Lights?

So... just to get my head in the game here... are you looking to not have gauges but just lights for Oil and Charge? Sorry if I misinterpreted your original post there. Both would desirable in my view. It'd be nice to be able to monitor some semblance of "real" pressure AND have the light catch my attention in a moment of instant pressure drop.
It would seem that fitting the right kind of Oil Pressure sending unit (NOT an idiot light unit that is connected to the gauge via a resistor) would drive the stock gauge in some way that you could determine relative oil pressure... no?
I was looking for such a sending unit back in Oct and then the rains came... ;( haven't found a "real" pressure sending unit yet. Guess I should be looking for a 85 and previous part (?)
I would think that a resistant circuit in parallel with the sending unit could trigger an idiot light when the pressure drops below or close to the minimum.
I did some bench testing on my stock gauge and it certainly seems to respond appropriately to changes in pressure.
Anyone recommend a sending unit? ... a real pressure sending unit?
As for a sending unit, try this one. It is the one I have for the fuel pressure relay for Big Blue, which is controlled by oil pressure.
Too bad you don't have a 3D printer and reasonable CAD experience (?)... you could print you're own gauge replacement part designed to hold a bulb...
