Bare Bones Engine

is it possible to take all the smog and extra stuff smog pump on a 1987 ford f250 since it doesn't need to be smogd anymore just to strip it down for maximum horse power

The smog equipment is not robing any horsepower on that motor, but yes you can remove the air pump and plumbing attached to it if you like.

If you're looking for maximum HP, upgrade the exhaust and headers. The emissions stuff doesn't have much to do related to power. Its just there to help your engine run clean to please the environmentalists.

I got rid of all the emissions related stuff on my 91 and noticed no improvement in power or mpg. Just looks a lot less cluttered under the hood.
