Oh, btw, I used assy lube on all studs entering the block, washers, nuts and finger tight only.

Thanks for the link Mark.

Just got home from a 100 mile trip. Popped the hood. No puking??? Anti freeze level right on my mark.
If that was the first run with the new cap you found the problem.

Actually, I put the old cap back on yesterday.

Gonna pour the coals to her on the way home from work today. I'm still going to do a thorough inspection this weekend.

Thx for all the input.

Update

Hi all.

Just wanted to give you all an update. Yesterday she puked again. So, I've been waiting for my pressure gauge to come in.

Today it arrived. Hooked up the barb tee and gauge.

Test results:

Truck temp at start up, 128. After about 2-3 minutes of idling got a pressure reading of 3psi. Truck temp 155 after about 5-6 minutes of idling.

Drove to fuel station 1 mile away. 25 MPH to 40MPH pressure reading 6.5 psi.

Let idle while fueling. Pressure reading 7psi. Temp 177.

Drove to freeway 4 miles away. Average speed 40 MPH. Truck temp 198. Oil temp 197.

Approaching entrance ramp. Speed 40. Pressure reading 8psi.

Nailed the go pedal and held it till 80MPH. Pressure slowly climbed to 12-12.5 psi and stayed there. Held pedal for 1 sec or so and let off. Upon letting off. Pressure dropped off to 9psi. Speed was 65 MPH. Stayed at 65 for 3 miles. Pressure drop to 8psi and stayed.

Exited freeway. Got back on. Nailed the pedal. Pressure again rose to 12-13 as I approached 80MPH and stayed. Let off to cruising speed off 60MPH. Pressure dropped down again to 9psi. Drove 10 miles at a speed of 65. Truck temp 199. Pressure 8psi.

Exited freeway. Looped back around to entrance ramp and pulled off to the side and parked for 5 minutes. Truck temp 198. Oil temp 198. Pressure 7psi.

Waited for traffic to clear. Nailed the go pedal from a dead stop. Pressure climbed to 12-13psi and stayed. Looked at odometer and I was going 90MPH. Truck temp 200. Oil temp 202. Let off to cruising speed of 65. Pressure settled down to 9psi. After 5 more miles. Pressure settled to 8psi. Headed home.

Normal driving through town to home about 6 miles. Pressure settle in at 7psi.

Got home. Popped the hood and the was a very slightt appearance of puking????

The only thing I did different was I used all new hose clamps. Even the truck hose to thensure degas. Going to clean off the degas bottle and put a new worm clamp on hose to degas.

I do still have my EGR cooler installed. It's been welded at both ends and wonder if that part of the problems and the hose too?

Any ideas??????

Going to call it a night and try some more this weekend.

Thanks for listening.

It sounds like you did a good job on your test drive. You had it up to temp hammered it and the pressure never blew at the cap or you would of seen the needle drop suddenly and build up again. Then when you let off the pressure came right back down to the norm.
I don't suspect head gaskets.
When you say it showed signs of puking, what were your indications? Blown head gaskets venting out the cap can really make a mess. By chance did you get a picture?
I'd do what you're doing with replacing weak clamps and run it. Be sure to not overfill the degas resevoir. Cold it should be about 1/2" below the mark. That's my opinion based on what I read. Maybe others can chime in incase I missed something. Keep us posted.

Thanks for the complement. I try to be thorough.

Needle never dropped. Climbed slowly and stayed at 12-13psi. Once I let off the go pedal. She started dropping down.

I didn't take any pics today. Had gauge in hand. I took pictures of yesterday's puking. Tried to upload them here but couldn't. Ever since Samsung did this new update to our phones a week ago. I've been having trouble printing from my phone and uploading pictures to the forums I go to

I wiped the degas bottle before I started my test but it was dark and don't think I did a good enough job. I'll find out more tomorrow and the weekend. I cleaned her real good tonight before I went in. Put new clamp on and resume test tomorrow.

You might have a bad Degas bottle (warped where the cap goes on) take a flat piece of stock with some 200 grit paper and Tru it up. Then check your cap for puking.

Agreed, something just does not sound right here to blame the HG's at this point.

Great idea, someone mentioned this some time ago but I don't think it gets mentioned that often. Degas bottle can be fickle thing sometimes.

Well, I think you were right. Bought a new degas bottle and ford cap. Replaced the old one. Refilled the degas and took her for a spin. No puking in the last 3 days. It was almost 80 degrees today. Climbed some hills with the A/C blowing. Smashed the go pedal to 60. No puking. Did it a few times. Temp got up to 206, oil 209. 45 minute drive home.

Popped the hood. No puking!!!

So, going to pick up new 195 thermostat from Ford for summer use.

Thanks again for all the suggestions. I hope this one fixed.

Sorry no pics. Can't seem to be able to upload any pics here???

Wow, glad you got it. I'm cheap I would have tried sanding it first. Did you use a Ford Degas or a Dorman?

Yeah, I thought about sanding it. But, it was old and wanted a fresh OEM one. So, I got the Ford degas and cap.
