Wondering, I was planning on getting rid of the heated carb spacer since I'm going to a 4 barrel holley and edelbrock RPM intake, .. I know colder air translates to more hp... Am I losing anything by bypassing the spacer and running directly to the water pump and intake tube? .. Also is there any vacuum lines routing diagrams for performance engines.... I'm changing valve covers and air cleaner that a lot of those lines ran to
The only thing that heated spacer is for is to prevent carb icing in the cold. Not knowing where you are, that might still be a concern, but an in-line valve for the heater core could do two things in the summer. Keep the carb cooler, AND shut off the heater core so it's not radiating heat into the cab.
As for vacuum lines, well, it's brake-booster, PCV and vacuum advance at it's simplest.
2X what 69ch said. I went a step further. My stack is, from the bottom: Thick gasket, plastic OEM spacer ~3/4", gasket, large heat shield homemade, gasket, heated spacer, thin gasket, and atop it all the carb. Since it gets really hot here in summer, I later added a ball-valve shutoff.
