max egt's?

Hey guys. What are the max egts to stay in the safe zone. Ive got a dpf and egr delete on my 14 with a sct livewire. Put the pyro on the manifold where the egr pipe was at. Wanting to know where should I set my alarm at on my monitor.

For these 6.7s, I'm not sure. I know that the my old 7.3 was 12-1300 degrees. If I were to set an alarm, I would prob go with 13-1400 and then back it down if you hit that number. I used to throttle my pedal going up hills with the 7.3 so the EGTs did not get out of hand. Anywhere else I didn't see any issues.

I used to monitor with my 6.4. I set my alarm at 1350 because during a regen it would get that high.

Since the factory thought that was ok I set that as the limit.

A 6.7 I have no idea but I would probably be a little more conservative. About 1200.

1450-1500 is the upper end of comfortable for a few seconds, in my opinion. Some would say higher.

I'm deleted with an SCT Livewire. Highway unloaded I am usually around 650. Towing 750. Towing in 3-4% grades with my foot in it 1100 was the highest I have seen.

I have 3 custom tunes. Extreme, Performance and Towing. Been deleted for about 50,000 miles and I have never taken it out of the Performace tune. If I was towing over 10,000 lbs then I would put it in towing.

So do most of you guys not monitor with the 6.7? I currently have a 6.0 so monitoring is my life, lol. I know your cluster can be set up to read EOT and TFT, only thing missing would be EGT and from what it sounds like unless you tow heavy it's not that crucial on these engines. Does that sound right?

Those 1200's I quoted were towing and during a regen.

Thinking I might have a bad probe. Left the store earlier and the egt degrees was stuck at 32. Unplugged the livewire and she started working again.

I monitor my 6.7 off of the DPF sensor. Towing 10k up a 4% the truck went into regen. Once the temps in the DPF exceeded 1250, the truck went into limp mode (no boost). Shut it off, restarted and the truck was just fine.

The Excursion, while I never tow with it, driving up the Eisenhower approach near the top in the summertime (75 degrees ambient, variable humidity) the truck will touch 1200, but not before the fan clutches in and it calms down.

IMO, the 6.7 in stock mode is not happy when towing and regen'ing at the same time....it was at that time I started seriously considering a delete. My buddy in the deleted Cummins following me wouldn't shut up about it for days.
