Oil?
It time for my first oil change in my 2017 powerstroke. Just curious what type of cj-4 oil you all are using or plan to use.
I wanted to use Rotella t6 5w-40, but it's getting hard to find Cj-4 and CK isn't recommended in the new powerstroke.

I didn't think Valvoline Blue was stil a Cj-4 spec. If so that is probably what I will be running. Hard to beat that price. I just hate to get started with a certain oil and have to switch in a couple oil changes because it isn't recommended for my truck and can't get it in Cj-4 anymore.
The 5w-40 motorcraft oil is way overpriced. Anyone know what type of oil motorcraft is?

Valvoline PBE 5w40 is still CJ4. $18.99 a gallon at NAPA for the month of March.

Just changed my oil today and used Lubrication Engineers 8854 5W40 synthetic. Heard amazing things about this oil. I'll see what it does for me

Either Sam's Club never carried it in the first place or someone cleaned them out of T6. Lots of T4 though.

Is Mobil Delvac 1 ESP good oil? I found some at my local Meijer that still has CJ-4 on it. I thought about just using the Motorcraft oil since Ford is being so picky, but I am planning to switch to 5W-40 and I can't find that weight in Motorcraft oil locally and it costs quite a bit to order it online.
I bought the Delvac 1 ESP because it was $23/gal with a $12 mail in rebate per gallon.

I do not see any CK-4 oil on the approved list for 5w-40. On other weights I do see some CK-4 oils listed.

I didn't know about that list. The most common oil that you are allowed to use on that list in 5w-40 is Valvoline extreme blue.
I also don't understand why you would be allowed to use Rotella t3 and t5 15w-40 and not t6 5w-40. Doesn't make sense.
