I have adaptive steering and have that noise as well. It actually just started yesterday and drove me crazy. Should I bother taking it to the dealer or ignore it?

I wouldnt take it to the dealer. Each time you take your truck to the dealer, the odds of something getting scratched, stained, or broken increases. At least in my experience, i dont want someone fiddling with it so ill leave it be for now.

I don't have adaptive steering so I can't speak to any extraneous sounds from that system. Likely you do have the faint whine coming off the steering shaft though as it seems to be common to this as well as other model years.

You might mention it to the service advisor if you use the dealer for maintenance/service. He'll probably say it's normal. That said it does seem to be a common behavior for the truck so I'm not going to worry about it. I can only hear it at idle with everything off. Turn on the AC or radio or put the truck in "drive" and I cannot hear the whine at all.

I brought this thread back up just because I became curious about the sound and had a couple of hours to dig into it to find the source.

These trucks are so darn quiet these days you can hear every little thing that makes a noise. Not really a problem IMO.

I to have the noise. It actually starts to sound like whinning then it begins to sound like fluid is moving around in there. I recorded it with my phone. You can only really hear it if the radio is off and quite in the cab, annoying as hell for a 75k truck. I put 37's on my truck so I though it was that but it appears not after reading this post. I do not have adaptive steering on my truck
