Backed out of the garage today and noticed the powersteering was whining a little. Didn't think much about it until I got to the end of the driveway and started to turn the wheel and it was like I had no powersteering till I hit the gas. Has anyone else had this issue? It did it a few other times during the drive. Always at less than 5 mph. It was really hard to turn the wheel left or right when stopped. Especially in park and running.
So, the power steering pump high pressure oil is used in the power steering AND the hydro boost for the power brake booster. These systems have been used on diesel Fords since the late 90s and they are used on many other applications.
Before we get worrying about all manner of issues, perhaps best to access warrenty with your issues. The adaptive steering will be another be place to look. I see the fluid level is actually a bit high. I would take it in and have them look and see what they can find out.
I have yet to hear noise from mine unless turning sharply and holding on the stop where you hear the bypass pressure being released.

I'm gonna drive it once more tomorrow to see if it's a continuous problem. If so, I'll be calling the service department. Side Note: this truck does not have the Adaptive Steering system.

Yes....I noticed that also. Why would the level be above MAX ?? (On a fairly new truck)........
That little bit is hurting nothing. They have a max level to allow for expansion. He has a new truck, let the dealer address it rather than lose any sleep over it.
