So I've sat in a lariat but not a king ranch so I don't know the thickness of it and all but I do know that with saddles for horses you can apply kneets foot oil?? I think that's what it is called. To help condition the thick leather saddles.
Is the leather here the same and do I need to apply this same oil? And with it being perforated seats....(I assume cause of heathed and cooled seats?) would I need to stick to only liquids not gels?
I own both trucks. 17 king ranch ultimate. And my 17 lariat. Dually. The king ranch leather is far superior than my dually s leather. Plain n simple no comparison.
I bought some 303 for my.boats vinyl seats. I haven't used it yet, if I remember correctly you can't get over spray on different surfaces.
Not sure where you heard this. 303 can be used on any surface. Some people even use it on their fiberglass campers over the decals. I use it on my tires to give it shine and UV protection but not the damaging results over time that ArmorAll may give you.
Some of you are saying the seats are the same. I have sat in a king ranch and lariat.., I don't see how it's the same??
the KR leather is thicker to me. At least feels that way. I'm also assuming has less viynl... or none.
The KR seat covers are different in design, but that doesn't mean the leather is the same. As I stated, the Lariat has a fair amount of vinyl even on the areas you actually sit on. The sides, rear covers, and head rests are certainly all vinyl. The rear seats of the Lariat feel almost 100% vinyl. I have not been able to make a complete determination on that yet. The KR appears to have more seating surface area leather (although the sides and back are still vinyl) but additionally there is more leather on the rear seats and I believe the center console lid is trimmed in real leather. On my 2016 KR, the armrest covers on the doors were leather instead of vinyl. Perhaps this carries over with the 2017?
So Chris, The collective wisdom of this forum isn't going to dissuade you from buying a new truck you can't afford, so now you are going to buy one of the most expensive trims available? Please check in with us 6 months from now and let us know if you regret the purchase. Good luck. Adam

i appreciate all the wisdom. But uh. I don't see how you can sit there and say I can't afford something? Like that kinda seems like a personal attack/insult that really isn't needed and uncalled for.
Am am I going out and buying one without a down payment? No. I'm actually going to be putting a substantial down payment down. That I'm currently working overtime at my work to save up. I plan to put 20k down on this truck. So I don't see how I can't " afford "

I'll look again on the label. Seems like it said to be very cautious with it.

wtf. Who's are you tell someone they can can't afford something. What a jerk statement.

no need to justify you're Finacial needs. If you want and can get financing. Or buy outright. Is you're business not some keyboard jockey. Enjoy the truck of you're choice. 😳👍

thanks.
I just think that was really rude. I mean I crate so many threads here to be as much informed as possible and then after doing reasearch I am setting a goal to save up from working OT to be able to have a payment where I can afford it.
I mean if I didn't have a down payment and just went out there and bought whatever at a horrible interest rate and high payment then yeah I can see where this statement is Kinda coming from but seeing as how I ask a lot of questions and everything I don't feel like I'm making a decision based on me not affording it.
sorry that statement he said kinda just offended me and I don't see why he would have said that.

Chris,
Everybody here has an opinion about one thing or another. The poster "Adam" who shared his offensive opinion, just shared an opinion that bears absolutely no meaning on what you are trying to accomplish. There are some here who think it's totally dumb to purchase a $70k - $80k truck for cash out the door, some who love to wave that banner of walking into a dealership and purchasing the truck for cash, and some who think you should only target an affordable monthly payment. In the end, it doesn't matter, and however you get your truck, if you really want it, just go get it. Enjoy it, mod it to your tastes if you want, and have the kind of fun you are hoping to have with it. Life is too short to withhold doing the things that will make you happy, and it's too short to let someone's rude opinion ruin your fun. I enjoy the questions you post and they stimulate good discussion and sharing on this forum by people who genuinely want to help you to understand everything you want to know about this awesome truck. I hope that you will forego his words and not let it affect your spirit.

Well said thumper.
Now back to the topic at hand. I think almost all cars with leather seats (Bentley's and Ferrari's aside) have a qualifier of "leather trimmed" or "Leather seating surfaces" that basically denotes that any part of the seat your rear end or back doesn't touch isn't leather. Even most home furniture is like that nowadays. Just the area's your posterior touches, like the other post with the pics and arrows says, has some variant of actual cow hide. That being said, I've owned a bunch of 's over the past 16 years, one being an '06 F-150 Lariat and the leather and vinyl on that truck was really thin. So much so that the exit side of the driver's seat cracked, peeled and looked like crap after 2 years of my fat @ss sliding in and out of it. The KR leather does feel thicker and the tops of the front seats in my '11 and '14 KRs had overlayed leather portions over the top of the seat backs where you could see the thickness of the leather (or perhaps just the thickness of the overlay...but lets assume it was representative of all the leather in the truck). BUT, the one complaint I have about the '11 Superduty KR, the '13 Expedition KR my wife had and the '14 Superduty I just traded in is that the sides of the seats, whether they are actual leather or not, lost a lot of their color and looked really worn after 2 years of ownership...even on my wife's KR, and she's quite waifish...but none of the KRs cracked and peeled. The leather on my '17 KR feels much like my 11 and 14 if not softer.
