Vacuum lines or no?

Truck: 79 f250, 400, c6 trans, 4x4

Bare with me, I literally just picked this truck up this afternoon after looking at it, going over it, test driving it for a whole week. I finally bit the bullet and bought it. Anyways I need to know what this is? (Picture). Located on passenger side, on outside frame rail, under the cab door. Has a few lines that go to the engine bay. I noticed 2 are cut and a 3rd is connected to some kind vacuum fitting.

The awesome truck I just bought!

anyways do I need these two things? The back one doesn't even look like it's in use.
Thanks

Looks to be 2 charcoal canisters, for your emissions. Make sure they are either plugged in off capped off so they don't cause a vacuum leak.

By the way nice truck, how much did you pick it up for?

Yep...charcoal canisters as part of the emissions system. You should probably have a line running back to your gas tank and then another line up to the carburetor or intake.

No you don't need them if your area isn't a stickler for period correct emissions components.

Thanks for info. I'll have to check the lines back to the tank, I know a few are old and broken or not even used.

I got the truck for 4200. Runs like a champ.

at 38 years old it's hard to tell what's stock and what's not

The seat was reupholster. Floor pans replaced, but not great, I'll be redoing it. No ac or heat. No radio. Overall 7 out of 10 interior.

engine leaks at the valve covers but over all clean. Still has the 2 barrel carb. Doing a fitech tbi.

Thanks man. I really wanted a 4 speed. But the c6 will do. I'll be towing my toyota rock crawler around just fine with it and my DD. I just want to make it a reliable beast!

Welcome to FTE!!! Lots of good people here, often willing to help out...

That's a good-looking truck, and it looks to be in very good shape. Score!

As others have said, those appear to be charcoal canisters for the emissions. They'll connect to the port on top of the gas tank(s) and to the carb/air cleaner.
