How the heck can Ford allow this to happen? Sitting your new $truck$ in the shop for more than 2 weeks while you wait for a part that the factory has in stock. I'd be pissed too.
Welcome to the world of "JUST IN TIME DELIVERY" of parts at the assembly plants........ is not the only one's doing this; pretty much everything made by assembling parts to make finished product!!! NOBODY wants to carry extra inventory of the parts on the shelves......assembly plants, dealers, whatever.
If every dealer carried an inventory of every part that could *possibly* fail, we, the consumer, would ultimately pay that cost. Gotta keep prices down, or the competition will!!!!!!!!!!!
Had a friend here in California tell me recently he was unable to get a code read at a local Autozone. He was told it is now illegal to do so.
I have not been able to determine yet if this is an Autozone only decision based on something that happened with them or there is indeed a state regulation.
I do recall some news articles a number of years ago concerning legal issues Autozone was having with reading codes for customers.
My code was oil/coolant temperature correlation. Ford tech called the mechanic right away to see what or how this code came up. It has been cleared and hasn't came up again. It had been cold here so I imagine that is how it happened.

maybe the vatozone employee thought he was asking to clear the code, they can't do that.
