flashing check engine light

flashing check engine light
I have a 1989 F150, the check engine light just started flashing when i'm running down the road at about 55mph. how do I get the code to see whats wrong?

EEC IV Self Test hookup

there are instructions and code definitions at that website. You can leave out the analog volt meter and test light shown in their instructions and watch the check engine light instead.
