Head gaskets

hey I'm getting ready to build my 03 6.0 I'm putting 190cc injectors with 100% nozzles, stage 3 industrial injection turbo, blue spring, egr delete, arp head studs I might go with new manifolds too. Sinister Diesel has a kit that includes the oil cooler as well but I need to know what the best head gasket would be to use with this setup. Thanks!

May want to consider a regulated return setup since you'll have the heads off. Much easier to upgrade when it's all apart. No need for the blue spring then.

Oem or felpro headgaskets. As for the heads, I'd have your originals machined. Valve seats & guides milled out & replaced with hardened ones.

Also the 03's are notorious for having a weak HPOP. Increased fuel demand will definitely work the pump harder. If it does give out, adrenaline makes the best replacement vs stocks.

Excellent! Have you done a coolant flush yet? If so, was it pretty clean?

Mine was extremely neglected & full of rust when I flushed so I'm doing a diy remote air oil cooler. I know rust will eventually let loose down the road & will plug an oem oc. $2.5k in kits from bpd will give you remote air oil cooler & bypass oil filtration. I'm building my own for about $1k.

Hey Bumblebee04, I hope you start a thread when you start building your kit.

+1 OEM gaskets. With all that extra power, you should gets the heads o-ringed. I got mine from UCF machine shop - very happy with the product. +1 for regulated return. You will almost certainly need a stronger fuel pump and you should be prepared to upgrade the transmission. You are going to be making a lot more power. Post a video when you are done - track or dyno or just flying down a nice straight road

I would steer clear of anything Sinister Diesel....

It has a cool name, but that's about it, I've seen too many people have bad experiences after installing their kits for the 6.0.

If you want a regulated return, driven diesel
Makes an amazing kit and was one of the first to develop one for the 6.0. They've got it down to a fine science and people they have theirs have no regrets.

OEM headgaskets are best, but Fel-Pro headgaskets have proven themselves as well.

Since you're putting 190s to that '03 transmission, you may want to give Red Diamond Diesel a call. As BTS is to the 4R100, Red Diamond is to the 5R110. I.e. they have a "Dare you to break it" warranty.

After talking to David, the '03 transmissions have their short comings and the Excursions especially got the short end of the stick on that one.

Nice help for the OP! Good suggestions above for sure.

Another option on heads would be SuperDutyService!

Raz - nice to know about Red Diamond Diesel!!

To each his own, what may work well on a 7.3 doesn't mean it's going work well on a 6.0.

IMO the best choice on injectors is going to be an expensive one.

OEM injectors (remanned).

If you want modified ones, I would suggest Full Force Diesel.
