93 f350 460. My smog pump started squeaking when I start the truck. It only squeaks for a second or 2, but I'd like to get it out of there before it breaks or seizes up. Looks like I can just remove the pulley and get a shorter belt. Anyone done this? Anything else I need to do if I do just unhook it? The engine has a two belt setup. Both serpentine style belts, one runs the water pump, AC, and power steering. The other one runs the water pump, alternator, and smog pump.
There are component rebuild sections of some manuals like Mitchell or the old Motors manuals. I thought I would try to find some info in those. I remember seeing businesses that offered to rebuild smog pumps so it is doable.
Also thought of grabbing one from the upullit for practice.
