hey peoples. got a quick question for you. i own a 1991 ford f150, with the 302. theres a loud squeeling sound comming from the front of the motor, sounds like a bearing going. ive changed the water pump already and its still there. it sounds like its comming from the "air smog pump", ive been tol dthat its ok to bypass this pump by putting a smaller cerpentine belt on and taking the pulley off the pump, has anyone done this or attempted this and had luck?? im worried that it might disrupt something else that the pump relies on. also if you have, do you have a length of cerpentine belt that you used. thanks.
Welcome to the site!
After I replace my waterpump I decided to put on a new serpentine belt. This was an Advanced Auto belt. It now squeals. I put the old one back on and it stopped. I've been told to go back to Ford and get an original, which I was planning to do. So check your belt, it may be as simple as that.
i reused the old belt cuz i only had maybe 25000 kms on it. i measured around the pulleys with string and got 86 inches, so i talked to my parts guy and he said hes gonna send me and 86 +/- 3 inches both ways and just figure out which one will work best for me and to just send the rest back. stock belt length is 91 inches.
I would like to extend a welcome to you also. I see you are in need of a belt for your truck and from the sounds of it you may need a 91 inch belt. We've got a few of them listed with the lengths if you would like to have a look.
