Don, the new Buc-ee's here are coming with DEF at the islands. Perhaps as the ones closer to you are renovated, you will have access there as well. The one near me just expanded by adding a new island with DEF (and Diesel) at the pumps, whhich they sell for $2.50/gallon and it is in underground tanks, rather than above ground tanks or totes.
Interesting!
There is a big sign saying Buc-ee's coming soon here in our little town of 13,000??? Even had an article in the paper about it, so if true, then it ought to be the deal. Murphy's just finished completely redoing their station here and I was amazed that they added 6 diesel pumps to the existing 2 but no def at the pump????
This island was just added to the Buc-ee's in Waller. Besides the three normal grades of gasoline, they also have Diesel, DEF and ethanol free gasoline at the pumps.
They are in the process of building the largest Buc-ee's in Texas off of Cane Island Parkway and I-10 in Katy which will have 121 pumps, and a car wash. It is supposed to also have DEF at the pump.

Yea, Murphy's put in Ethanol free pumps and the price takes your breath away.
I drive past where that Buc's is going to be on my trips over to Houston/Tomball.
For the readers who have driven past a Buc-ee's, I suggest you stop in and go in the store, its a real experience not to be missed. You will come out saying WOW, just WOW!

Like i said earlier, go inside Buc-ee's and they have DEF for $2.49 a gallon. I don't remember the brand but I checked it online to make sure it was certified and it is.
Big stations around here have 8. Yes, 8 pumps, only half of which are diesel.
121 pumps is insane. Just like Fordman, up here in NH/VT...a "big station" is 8 pumps...and unfortunately only two are diesel. Virtually every station around here has only one or two diesel pumps. One of our "big" (lol) stations has a separate truck lane for diesel and off-road only...both the high-volume fillers and normal fillers...so I go there.
I've never heard of Buc-ee's...what is so great about it? Educate me.
Buc-ee's are VERY well known for the cleanest restrooms anywhere. They also have an incredible store that sells a bit of everything, including fresh food and a variety of snacks and drinks. You kinda just have to experience it.
Another fun fact about Buc-ee's: they don't allow 18-Wheelers, so all of those pumps and amenities are for cars, pickups and RV's. During most daylight hours, every one I have seen has been very busy. I usually do my fill-ups at 4:00a.
And yes, the DEF in the jugs is the same price as at the pump - if your local Buc-ee's has it at the pump. I believe they all carry it in the store though.
Holy cow, I just went online and looked this up. I've never seen anything like this. Seems to be TX only. Guess I need to roadtrip my dually down to TX just for a gas station, lol!

Come on down. We'll toss a brisket on the smoker for you and have cold beer ready!
Well this is interesting and makes me wonder some things.
Ive got a 2011 with 216K on the clock. I typically refill the DEF tank (about 4 Gal. used) every oil change at 6K miles. I dont wait for the computer to prompt, i just do it. Cheap insurance in my mind.
Anyway, I tow occasionally anywhere from 3K-9K Lbs, but lately I havent been towing much. I also do mostly highway driving.
My recent DEF fill took only 2.75 Gal and its been over 8K miles since the last fill. so what does that mean? Less towing means less usage of DEF, but that much less?
I notice everyone on this forum and other forums seem to have widely varying reports of how much DEF they use regularly.
I also get around 500 miles between regens. I've seen others say that 200 is normal for them. Id say that's a lot based on my experience.
I consistently get 18.6 - 18.8 MPG unless I'm really running it hard. I recently made a run from VT to Maine and back, about 10 hrs of driving, took Rt 2 and ran it like I stole it the whole way. Averaged 21 MPG on that trip.
I also use Power Service Diesel Kleen religiously every fill up. 8oz. per 20 gal. not sure if it helps but cant hurt.
Nothing is deleted (yet), everything seems to work as it should. Truck still runs smooth, quiet, and strong as its ever been. In fact, I recently drove a brand new one and it felt the same aside from the shift points.
I guess my point is..... whats really driving DEF usage and what does it mean from a maintenance standpoint if you see large swings in usage?
