Ok....I have been reading for weeks now and I am hoping to get a cpl straight answers....here is my goal...simply a little more power....I am going to put a set of long rubes and dual exhaust on truck...I belive the factory air intake is fine as it appears to like a factory cold air intake as it sucks from the fender vs underhood....I understand that to maximize the performance from this change in need a tune...so here goes my questions
1 who and where do I get a tuner from
2 will larger injectors help my power quest
3 how about a larger throttle body
4 it appears this truck has a speed limter...how do I get rid of it....it completely falls out at 99mph
Truck is a 2002 f150 2wd ext cab xlt 5.4 auto
Any help would be great....iI do not want to spend the coin nor make the massive changes required to sc...i do tow a small 16' bayliner but nothing real heavy....I just want more go

The biggest change to feel in the of your pants that can be made is a different set of rear gears. 1st you need to know what you have. Check the door sticker on the drivers side and note the axle code and search the axel code. Odds are good that you have 3:55, as it was a very popular option. I would suggest a minimum of 3:73 gear ratio ....most like a 4:10 for towing. If you do change the gears, you may want to consider getting a locker or at least a limited slip differential.
As for the headers, yes that will help, but don't expect huge jump in power. Unless the old exhaust and cats were pretty bad.
The tuner; here is the next thing that can awaken potential power and take in account for a host of changes ,like the headers, gears, intake, cams, tire size...etc. And probably change the speed limiter. I would not do the headers unless you budget for the tuner too. you could do the tuner and gears and "wake things" up pretty well. If you get a good tuner that is expandable/ custom so it can be "upgraded" in the future if you do add more goodies. 5star tuning has a good reputation....I'm sure others can chime in to other places. http://5startuning.com/
As far as bigger injectors....hmmm...the factory size is probably going to feed your truck just fine. Getting new ones or reconditioning your current ones may prove to be more of a benefit. Bigger ones won't come into play unless you change to a more aggressive cams or add the turbo or super charger and those require bigger fuel pump too.
I would look into doing what is referred to the "gotts intake" modification. And it won't cost much at all.
this video is basically the same for yours. I did do the Gotts on mine and it did seem to help a little bit...slightly lower RPMs
So my suggestion is gears and tuner for sure and then exhaust. Everything else to help your truck out is general maintenance...like fresh filters in all locations and spark plugs...etc.
You could put in some shorty headers, true duals with X pipe, 75mm throttle body and gasket match the upper plenum. As far as a programmer, I would suggest finding a tuner and give him all what you have done and he can make a tune that will adjust for gears, tire sizes and lets you tweek timing and octane of fuel. Gears would make a huge difference but like I said the programmer will adjust the computer to keep the speedo accurate.
