I have a 2001 F-350 6.8L v10. Love it, never had a problem with it, just trying to stay 1 step ahead on maintenance. I just crossed over 104k Miles so it's time for the spark plugs to be replaced. I called the dealership inquiring about the boots, and how they go about testing them to see if they need to be replaced as well, but I was given very vague answers to my question.
My question: Is there a number range I'm looking to be in to determine if they need to be replaced? I've got everything to do the testing and replacement myself.
There's my answer. You've/I've talked myself into it. I'm there, might as well. Called around today. The bigger dealerships want $15/boot. Napa down the street stocks motorcraft boots at $8/ea. I've placed an order and will pick up on my way home.
Don't forget the Band-Aids for when you try to reach and pull the last couple of plugs under the cowl and against the firewall.
ive got my fair share in the house somewhere. I've got all the staples though: Beer, time, beer, shade, and beer. I've made my list and checked the fridge twice. Good to go!
