hello everyone, i just bought a 99 f-150 lariat with a 5.4 and 65k miles on it. im happy with the truck but there are two things that worry/bother me a little. when im cruising at about 40mph the car starts to jump a little,it is continous and regular, i got the tires balanced already, and nothing. also when im stopped the car feels like its sputering. the rpm's are stable and on the outside of the car it sounds like brand new. its only when im inside that i hear and feel the "sputering". i dont know if all this is normal or not, if anyone can help me with these issues id greatly appreciate it.
thanks

According to the dealer, the idle is normal. This is what they keep telling me on my 2001 5.4l with 31,000 miles on it.
Try 40 mph with the OD off. It may be trying to kick in and out.
Also, if they washed the engine to make it all spiffy for ya, check the spark plug pockets for water, it maybe shorting a coil and it will burn out on you soon if the moisture isn't removed. That is if a 99 has 8 coils and no plug wires.

thanks for the response lxman1. yeah, they did wash the engine b4 selling it, and ever since i got the car, the missing sensation has decreased gradually.
