My 2008 seemed to just lose most of it's engine power going uphill this morning. Not really missing but just no power. Is this the computer putting it in limp mode? No previous problems. What should I look for?

We might need a little more info from you like what type of truck, what engine, what were you pulling ( a small utility trailer, fifth wheel, pull behind travel trailer? How much weight was the trailer or trailer and its cargo? Do you pull that trailer normally? What kind of grade was the hill?
All of that will factor in to the answers we can give you.
2008 F250 SD Powerstroke diesel 4x4 automatic transmission, ~165,000 miles. Foreman truck just going to work in the morning empty, no trailer. Big hill a mile long at 6% or more grade about 8 miles into the trip. Said it just acted like it kept gradually having less power to make the hill. No smoke or rough running. I haven't been to look at it, but they said it has been running a check engine code for a glow plug for a couple of months.
It could be a number of different things. Could be DPF is clogged and not enough exhaust going out to allow the turbo to spool up, could be an issue with the high pressure pump, could be low fuel pressure, could be the egr valve is stuck open.... could be any number of things.
You need to get the codes read and find out what the CEL is throwing , that will give you a good starting point of where to look, last thing you want to do is thrown parts at it and nothing is fixed and you still have issues.
You can buy a 30 buck obd reader that will work with a phone or tablet and buy the torque pro that will allow you to read the codes

Problem seems to have corrected itself. The guys reported normal operation the next day. Took it out and drove the hill myself with no abnormal symptoms. Good for now, but if it happens again I have some things to look for. Thanks for the information.
Good to hear. One thing I would consider if it were me is to do the DPF and egr delete somewhere down the road, the DPF and regens are one of the reasons 6.4's can die an early death. Food for thought
Was able to re-create the problem again today. Pulled onto highway and headed uphill under hard acceleration. It almost seemed like the computer was limiting the acceleration. Drives like normal at 65 after easy acceleration. Guess I better get it in to a shop and on a computer.
